Rug Trends to Inspire Your Next Decorating Project

As we prepare to transition into fall, there is no better time to refresh the space in your home that you have been dreaming of updating! Whether that is your living room, foyer, bedroom or dining room, adding or replacing a rug is a great way to add a touch of on-trend style and color, and bring your space together. We have rounded up several rug trends to inspire your next decorating project!

Natural Material Rugs: The use of natural materials like jute, sisal, wool, and silk is a hot trend for good reason. These natural fibers are eco-friendly and incredibly durable. They also add the perfect natural element to a space and balance out bolder choices in accent pieces.

Rug Layering: Layering rugs is a trend that is here to stay! This popular design technique calls for layering different sized or shaped rugs on top of one another to add dimension and texture to a space. You can go more conservative and layer a bold pattern on top of a more natural base or combine two bolder patterns together to create a completely unique look.

Fun patterns: From more traditional borders and florals to geometric shapes, rug design trends have varied for years. Oriental rugs are a fun combination of traditional and modern, with timeless design and color mixed with trendy shapes and accent colors. The Magnolia Home by Joanna Gaines rug below is a great example of incorporating fun patterns and colors in your rug choice that complement the wood accents and leather beautifully.

Neutral Hues: Bold colors and patterns from years past are giving way to more earth-tones with minimalistic design and texture. This allows for fun accent pieces like chairs and wall decor to shine on a more neutral canvas.

If you are loving one of these fun rug trends and considering refreshing your home for fall, you are in luck! Furniture of Dalton’s Last Chance Rug Clearance Sale is happening in-store now. 2019 is here and with it comes a brand new year full of unique designs and trends. Everyone wants to stay up to date and relevant with the latest fashions, so we are here to prepare you for the wave of some of the biggest design trends headed your way.

Bold changes are coming, grey is a thing of the past, and people are even ditching their stainless fixtures for something with a little more character.

Keep reading to find out this year's biggest design trends, and what decor you should be looking for to keep your home ahead of the curve this year.

Experts have made predictions and the votes are in, 2019 is making a splash by diverting focus from some of the most popular styles of 2018 and bringing in more color, natural elements, and vintage designs.

Natural Elements

Materials such as stone, copper, concrete, and granite will have a much larger stage this year.

Brass, Gold, Bronze, and Copper

People are veering away from stainless everything and bringing back warmer metal tones in the form of Brass, Gold, Bronze, and Copper.

Silver and stainless are cycling out, so if you are looking to do a kitchen or bath update soon, check out a classy gold colored faucet to add some glam to your new bathroom and clawfoot tub.

These metals will also start to be implemented into doorknobs, lighting, appliance fixtures, and even furniture accents.

Concrete Accents

The natural concrete countertop is becoming increasingly popular. It's simplistic and industrial look is beginning to take over the granite and marble trend and I wouldn't be surprised if this style is here to stay.

The functionality, price, and usability of a concrete counter are just some of its modern appeals.

Warm Wood Tones

Greys are quickly making their hasty exit as warmer natural wood tones are making their entrance once again. Grey had its run, and it was a good one, but now its out with the bland and in with the rustic.

People are being swayed toward natural woods, unique stains, and even reclaimed wood to use for their furniture and accent pieces.

Neutrals will still remain popular, so no need to panic, but starting to implement more natural woods into your home is a great idea if you want to stay on the right side of style.

Pops of Color & Richer Palettes

Sterile rooms and extreme minimalism is on its way out. People are now opting for a more welcoming homey environment with a pop of color or fun feeling.

Floral Prints and Accent Walls

Floral prints and accent walls are becoming increasingly popular. I don't want to say everyone's least favorite word, but wallpaper may be making its comeback.

Now before you gasp in horror, let me clarify. We aren't talking full house, floor to ceiling, wallpaper, but rather one accent wall in a beautiful pattern that exemplifies your style and really brings your color palette to life.

Some styles are incredibly chic while being easy to install (and remove if you change your mind), so don't knock it 'til you try it!

Geometric Tile Patterns

This is one of my favorite styles that I can't wait to see more of. Geometric patterns on accent walls, bathroom floors, and tile backsplashes and showers are some of my favorite works of art.

While this trend is better in small doses, it is an incredibly stylish and artistic way to add some vitality and glamour to your basic bathroom or room in need of a facelift.

Vintage Pieces

We have seen the vintage train coming our way for a few years now. After all, history does repeat itself. So if you are looking for some "ugly cute" furniture or accent pieces, check the 70's.

70's Chic

When I say 70's chic, I don't mean to decorate your home like the Brady's, but picking a traditional style couch, antique armoire, or throwing in a touch of burnt orange could be a style a win this year.

Wall Sconces and Pendant Lighting

Antique and industrial metal light fixtures are a huge hit and only growing in popularity.

The average table lamp is basic, so unique and industrial looking bedside reading lights, desk lamps, and hallway accents are the new rage.
