Every new calendar year provides a great opportunity to re-focus our goals and outline the months ahead. In addition to our personal and professional resolutions, we also think of ways to refresh our favorite rooms and give our homes new life! Did we mention that each year also brings incredible new furnishings, thriving trends, and exciting color choices? If you and your family stayed safe at home throughout 2020, maybe your wheels are already turning on how to spruce up the household with new pieces and incorporate new shades and tones into your interior.  For added inspiration, here are a few of the 2021 New Year home trends that we can’t wait to see come to life:

Pantone Colors of 2021 – Sighting moods of contemplation, familiarity, and hope as a reflection of the state of real-world affairs, Pantone announced two 2021 colors of the year: Ultimate Gray (17-5104) and Illuminating (13-0647). These comforting shades in monochrome blankets, bed linens, pillows, drapes, and other furnishings help us maintain a measured optimism no matter what’s happening outside the home. Light gray tones help increase the visual space of smaller rooms and all grays are easy-to-match for frequent design refreshes. The Illuminating yellow tone reminds us of sunshine and gold, adding confidence, brightness and originality when used in appropriate amounts. You can try introducing this color in bold statement pieces like vases, ottomans, or another décor standout.

Layered Design - Whereas minimalistic design has thrived in the past, staying at home has put an emphasis on coziness and functionality over picture-perfect room scenes. Besides, shopping from home is safe, fun, and we want to showcase all our newest pieces! These useful layers mean more seating options for movies and relaxing, more rugs to handle foot traffic and rotate for visual interest, more blankets and pillows for snuggling, and more tables to showcase our newest purchases from Amazon. Furniture with built-in storage solutions will also be hot items in 2021 as a way to stylishly tidy up the household quickly. Overall, a mix of older pieces and new additions will provide chic comfort and visual appeal.

Mixing Metal & Wood – Following the rising trend of industrial styling, we will see more interiors use a sleek mix of wood and metal furnishings in 2021. Since industrial décor emphasizes on high ceilings, wood, metal, exposed stonework and beams, as well as neutral colors, it’s a great design style to embrace layers and incorporate Pantone’s 2021 choices. These interiors utilize a mix of modern and traditional design elements and visually represent a place to both work and live in. Along with the increase of working-at-home in 2020, this mix might be the perfect scheme to inspire productivity and contentment all year long!

Chandler Cocktail Table

Natural Fabrics & Furniture – If you love the look of wicker and rattan furniture, you will appreciate the return of woven, natural-looking furniture styles in 2021. The warmth of woven palm stems and willow twigs add warmth to indoors, outdoors, and any areas that receive ample sunlight. Whether full pieces or as details, rattan and wicker will see increased demand this year.  For our fabrics, this means a shift from synthetic options like polyester, nylon, and rayon, in favor of natural, sustainable, and recycled choices like organic cotton, recycled polyester, and low-impact linen. In addition to acknowledging the growing awareness of environmental issues, these materials bring in an organic feel that’s reassuring and stylish.

Home for the Holidays!

As the holiday season approaches, the excitement of holiday gatherings is hard to contain! It's a wonderful time to celebrate with friends and family. As you prepare to host your small gatherings, we realize home is more important now than ever! While there's a lot that goes into hosting loved ones during this festive season, it is possible to host an easy holiday party—one that doesn't make you feel overwhelmed and out of the control. With thoughtful planning and preparation, you can avoid last-minute stress and truly enjoy time with loved ones. Here are a few of our tips for pulling off an easy and enjoyable celebration.

Pick a Theme: Whether it's a color scheme, a seasonal fruit, or even a holiday song, choose one design element to help create the atmosphere you desire for your gathering. Whether that is a Classic Christmas with reds and greens, or a woodland theme with natural elements like pine cones and logs, creating a cohesive vibe for your get-together will make decorating much more enjoyable.

Use What You Have in Your Home: Before you spend hundreds on groceries and party supplies, take inventory of our home and see what you already have on hand. Utilizing the dinner plates and serving glasses that have been collecting dust in your cabinets is a great way to incorporate sentimental items and will save you time and money. Once you make a list of everything you do have, you can focus on the items that you need to buy.

Don’t Stress in the Kitchen: Even the best of cooks can feel overwhelmed preparing an entire holiday meal. Make things easier on yourself by sticking to a few items that you really enjoy cooking and source out the rest. Place an order at a local restaurant for a few sides or the main course to support your community and give yourself breathing room. Keep cocktails simple by preparing a single drink or punch and arranging other options on the bar for guests to serve themselves.

Make the Most of Your Space: When hosting a small gathering at your home, making the most of your space is crucial. People tend to congregate around food, so arrange your food stations where you want your guests to socialize. For the best flow, place appetizers in different locations, encouraging people to move around and mingle. Having several sitting areas will ensure guests have several spots to stop and enjoy the great food and company. Utilize multi-functional pieces like this gorgeous sofa table which serves as a great landing spot for food and decor whether you use it behind a sofa or in your entryway!

Or arrange cocktails and appetizers on a desk to create a quaint nook. These gorgeous animal print chairs make the perfect intimate sitting area that will catch the eye of your guests.

The holidays are a magical time of the year filled with joy and love. We hope your holiday season is memorable, even with the current circumstances. This year has definitely taught us the importance of valuing family and friends! Visit us today to stock up on beautiful and functional furniture pieces that will make your holiday hosting less stressful and will bring you joy well into the new year. From our family to yours, Merry Christmas!

Movie Night at Home: Favorite Sectional Round-Up!

Who said you have to go out to the movies to have a great evening that your family or friends will long remember and frequently want to recreate? A movie night at home is a budget-friendly, easy, and enjoyable way to spend time together. The key to a successful movie night at home is making it special. When you have great snacks, sweet treats, comfy seats and blankets, and of course, something great on the screen, you have all you need to create lasting memories!

Whether your crew is all about award-winning productions or the latest rom-com, picking the perfect movie is important. Equally as important is how you set up your at-home theater. Comfy blankets are a must, and of course, you need special snacks and treats. We've gathered up a few of our must-haves for the perfect movie night at home, so sit back, relax, and enjoy the show.

Popcorn: The key to any great movie night experience is the popcorn! Whether you throw a few bags in the microwave or pop it on the stove old-fashion style, don’t forget to add butter to make it taste just like the theater favorite! Serve family style in a large bowl that you pass around or make individual servings for everyone to enjoy.

Candy and Treats: A trip to the theater isn’t complete without a little something sweet. Purchase individual candy containers or whip up some homemade sweet treats for your family to devour. The great part of movie night at home is you are in charge of the sugar intake which is especially important when you have little ones with bedtimes. Create healthy versions of your favorite candies or serve cut up fruit for a sweet and satisfying option.

Comfy Seating: You can’t properly enjoy movie night without comfy seating. You can always opt for bean bags on the floor but for a truly unforgettable movie night, a plush sectional for the whole family to pile up on is the way to go! Whether you go with a Southern Motion Reclining Sectional or a large 5 Piece Palmer Sectional, you and your family or friends are sure to be relaxed and ready to enjoy the featured film.

A Great Movie: Of course, the most important part of movie night is a great movie! If you are having movie night with small children, a Disney movie may be the perfect way to keep their attention and make sure the content is appropriate. If you have older children or are inviting over friends, browse popular new releases or consider a throwback to a classic. Be sure it's a movie that everyone can agree on and even consider making a fun theme based on the movie you chose.

Thanksgiving Entertaining: Decorate Your Table for Thanksgiving!

Hosting a Thanksgiving celebration can be both exciting and intimidating. From the turkey prep to the table settings, nerves and expectations are high. If it is your first year as a host, or even your 20th, we’ve rounded up a few Thanksgiving entertaining ideas and tips that will help make the day satisfying for both you and your guests. Here are a few easy steps to make your Thanksgiving dinner a success!

It Starts with the Table: When it comes to setting the tone for your Thanksgiving celebration, there’s no better place to start than with your table setting. Play off of the natural rich colors of autumn by incorporating deep reds, browns, orange, gold, and green. Select a stunning table runner to drape over the edges of the table, and scatter small pumpkins and gourds as a fun way to incorporate natural elements. Of course, starting with a stunning dining table will provide the perfect landscape for your decor and ensure your guests have adequate seating and dining space. Furniture of Dalton has a stunning selection of in-stock dining sets that you can take home today to accommodate any size gathering or style. From large farmhouse tables to elegant dining sets, we have you covered! Visit our Pinterest page for more table setting ideas.

Exceptional Service: With COVID-19, how your guests are served may look a little different this year. Buffet-style is traditionally a great way to allow your guests to sample all of their favorite dishes. If you have a small gathering with immediate family, this style of dining may suit you well. However, if you are hosting a larger gathering, consider having individual servings lined up so guests can grab and go. Incorporate your serving dishes into your decor for an easy and simple setup.

Incorporate Kindness: Remember the spirit of Thanksgiving and extend love and grace to your guests by keeping them at the center of your mind when it comes to table decor and food. Keep centerpieces and other table settings at eye level so guests can mingle and chat with unobstructed views. Be sure to ask if any of your guests have dietary restrictions like a dairy allergy or if they are vegetarian. Be sure to have options to accommodate these preferences so your guests feel welcome and acknowledged.

Sweet Endings: At Thanksgiving, dessert is as much of a main attraction as the turkey. Arrange cakes and pies on stands of varying heights to display your sweet spread, or pass cookies and pastries around the table family style. You can also prepare desserts in individual serving containers so guests can grab and go. Don’t forget to serve tea and coffee along with dessert to keep guests alert after the infamous turkey coma that is sure to ensue.

Encourage Lingering: While Thanksgiving is undeniably about the food, the true testament of a great celebration is when your guests want to stay after the meal to mingle and enjoy each other’s company. Help facilitate the lingering with plenty of casual seating. Include a DIY bar for guests to make an after-dinner cocktail. Be sure to enjoy the fun yourself. After all, you deserve it!

Tailgating at Home

Football season is here and we couldn’t be more excited! While stadium capacities have been decreased and less people are able to gather in-person at the games, that doesn’t mean the tailgating fun is over. Tailgating at home is the next best thing to being at the game in person, and we might even argue, better! With a few simple tips and tricks, you can turn your living room, backyard, driveway or man-cave into the ultimate tailgating destination.

  1. The Right Decor - Tailgating is all about creating the game-day experience and having the right decor can make all the difference. Set up tailgating tents outside, have the pregame on the TV, and incorporate team colors in fun ways! Colored plates, koozies, and flags are a great way to show team spirit, and you can make it as simple or elaborate as you like. Try out DIY decorations, like this fun Goalpost Centerpiece, to take your at-home tailgate to the next level!

  1. Game Day Food - If we’re being honest, the food alone is all the reason we need to have a tailgating party at home! The game is great, but if you have the right game day spread, you’re happy regardless of whether or not your team is victorious. There are so many fun options when it comes to tailgate food, but the name of the game is to keep it simple. Finger foods are always a good idea and these Cajun Sausage Puffs with Bourbon Mustard are the perfect dressed-up pigs in a blanket! Loaded Nachos are also a crowd-pleaser and they are simple to make and pile high on your plate. We can’t forget dessert! Football Woopie Pies with Cinnamon Cream are the ultimate sweet treats that are festive and delicious.

  1. The Ultimate Game Watching Setup - You can’t have a tailgating party without a great place to watch the game comfortably. This is where Furniture of Dalton has you covered! We have a huge selection of couches, motion sofas, sectionals, recliners, and more to help you create the perfect game day experience. Whether you prefer a movie room setup complete with individual recliners or a large sectional for everyone to pile onto in the living room, our Hooker gallery has it all! Not to mention, most items are in-stock, so you can take them home today and have your home game day ready in time for the next game!

Visit our 120,000 square foot showroom today to see all of the great options available for your at-home tailgating. Serve up warm apple cider to the whole family, or try this delicious spiked Apple Cider for the adults. Don’t forget something sweet! Set up a caramel apple bar and let the kids and adults alike get creative with their toppings.

Host a pumpkin carving party. Once you find the perfect pumpkins in the patch, invite over the neighbors for an old fashioned pumpkin carving! Print out fun design templates for everyone or have fun with the templates that come in your carving kit. Save the pumpkin seeds for roasting and toss them in salads, granola, or use in desserts! Add a little friendly competition by having everyone vote for their favorite pumpkin, or keep it fun and lighthearted by simply admiring all of the awesome creations.

Create a Fall Harvest Centerpiece. This DIY Fall Harvest Centerpiece from HGTV is the perfect addition to any fall get-together! With simple, step-by-step instructions and minimal materials required, this centerpiece is easy to put together and will look great on your outdoor dining set or seating area. Incorporating cinnamon sticks, apples, and fall foliage will set the tone for your fall outdoor gatherings and is sure to impress your guests.

Enjoy an outdoor Halloween Party. With Halloween falling on a Saturday this year, it is the perfect timing for a Halloween party! No matter how you chose to celebrate the festive holiday, keeping everyone outside not only helps you practice social distancing, but also takes the pressure of cleaning the inside of your house off of you! How is COVID-19 Affecting the Furniture Industry?

This year has looked vastly different than many of us would have anticipated as we entered into 2020. COVID-19 has impacted our lives in so many areas from travel, to social gatherings, and even schools. We have been spending more time at home, and you may find yourself wanting to create or update different rooms throughout your house. Whether your children are learning digitally and need a dedicated virtual learning space, or you need more functional furniture as you have more family members at home than in the past; now is the perfect time to bring in new pieces that make our new normal an easier adjustment.

Sadly, if you have browsed furniture stores, you may be disappointed to find that shipping and order fulfillment has been greatly delayed due to COVID-19. Many furniture retailers only carry a small stock in-store or online and have to place orders for the new demand. Fulfilling these new orders can take months! This can be extremely frustrating when you are trying to make your home more functional now only to realize that you will have to wait several months for that to happen.

Thankfully, at Furniture of Dalton we have a huge warehouse with in-stock furniture that you can take home the same day! We pride ourselves on maintaining a robust selection and inventory for our customers especially during these unprecedented times. If you are preparing for virtual learning for your children and need a new desk for them to work at, we have great options like the Two-Drawer Desk below. This is the perfect space for little ones and teens to house their schoolwork and participate in online class, and the best part is that you can take it home today!

We also have our Labor Day Sale happening from August 20 - September 9. Pay 0% interest for 60 months on purchases of $1,999 or more with equal monthly payments or receive 15% off of your purchase. This is a great opportunity to get the furniture that you have been eying at a great price! With Furniture of Dalton's large selection of in-stock furniture, you can pick out the perfect piece and take it home that day.

As we get ready to enter into the holiday season, we also have the selection you need to make family gatherings a success with our Gathering Sale from September 10 - October 3. Receive a 20% discount on chairs with the purchase of a table. Enjoy spending time with close friends and family around a gorgeous new table complete with enough chairs so that everyone has a seat at this year’s holiday celebration!

With the uncertainty that this year has brought on, don’t let delayed furniture orders cause you undue stress. Visit our 120,000 square-foot showroom today and take advantage of in-stock pieces that you can take home immediately! We are open Monday through Saturday from 9 am to 6 pm. You can schedule an appointment on Facebook or give us a call at 800-262-3132. We look forward to helping you create a home that embraces our new normal and will last you for many years to come!

Labor Day Fun Ideas

As the unofficial end of summer, Labor Day is perfect for spending special time with family and friends. Amidst the current social distancing practices, the long weekend presents a great opportunity for small outdoor gatherings, BBQs, camping and so much more. As we embrace our new normal and prepare for all the fun that fall can bring, here are a few fun ideas to make your Labor Day celebrations a blast!

  1. A Classic Cookout- You can never go wrong with grilling out a delicious lunch or dinner spread for Labor Day. One way to ensure that you have the best cookout possible is to start with a top-of-the-line grill. The Big Green Egg is the best kamado grill, ceramic grill & charcoal smoker on the planet, with 7 convenient sizes! While summer gardens are still bountiful with fresh fruits and vegetables, take advantage of the farm to table opportunity and try these Grilled Vidalia® Onion Chicken Peach Skewers or go with a crowd-pleaser like Perfect Ribs.

  1. Patio Party- Take advantage of the great weather that Labor Day presents with al fresco dining and gathering as we transition into cooler temperatures. Whether your Labor Day plans include a final dip in the pool or enjoying your deck or patio, a great outdoor furniture set can help seamlessly connect your Labor Day festivities from inside to outdoors. Create defined spaces and add a fun pop of color with an outdoor rug! Outdoor gatherings are also perfect for social distancing as they allow for ample space between guests and fresh air.

  1. Outdoor Movie Night! - With movie theaters across the country shut down due to COVID-19, an outdoor movie at home is a fun way to recreate a night out at the movies! Whether you prefer to watch an old favorite or stream a new release, follow these easy steps to setup a movie theater in your own backyard. Be sure to pop some popcorn, have plenty of your favorite candies, and refreshing drinks!

  1. Backyard Camping- A great way to enjoy your Labor Day weekend is by getting in touch with nature. If you aren’t ready to fully embrace camping in the woods, your own backyard is a great place to set up a tent, listen to the sounds of nature, and enjoy quality time with family. Gather around the firepit and roast marshmallows while telling funny stories or play a game of Two Truths and a Lie. No need to worry about forgetting a crucial s'mores ingredient or bug spray! When your backyard is the campground, you can always run in and grab what you need. You also have the option to sleep in your own bed if the tent life isn’t your thing!

With the unusual and challenging year we have had, making plans for enjoying Labor Day is a fun way to lift your spirits and get excited for all that the rest of the year has to offer! One of the greatest takeaways from the new pace of life is that you can have a great time in your own home with a little creativity. Furniture of Dalton is here to help you create the perfect setup to enjoy your Labor Day weekend and beyond. We have a great selection of competitively priced furniture in stock at our 120,000 square-foot showroom. Schedule an appointment today on Facebook or call us at (800) 262-3132. We are open Monday through Saturday from 9 am - 6 pm. We would love to meet with you safely to make your home dreams a reality!

Back to School Tips

As summer draws to an end and we get ready for the transition back to school, preparation this year is sure to look different from years past. Whether you are planning for your children to head back to in-person learning, fully digital learning, or a combination of the two, prepping for you and your children’s “new normal” can be difficult to navigate. We understand, and we wanted to share a few ways you can best prepare for the school year ahead!

  1. Continue your back-to-school traditions (with slight adjustments). If you always take the kids shopping for back-to-school clothes and new school supplies, continue that tradition, even if it’s online. Even if they will be participating in fully digital learning, continuing habits and traditions that you have practiced in previous years will help make the transition into the new school year feel more familiar. Still take your traditional first day of school photos and, if you’re learning from home, create a new tradition that reinforces the positive side of the new normal like a mid-day dance party. Making this new routine a positive experience is a great way to get your kids excited for the upcoming school year!

  1. Create a structured and inviting learning environment. Teachers do a great job of decorating and arranging their classrooms in fun and engaging ways because they know it affects how their students learn. Even if your child won’t be learning in the traditional classroom this year, you can still create a space at home that encourages learning and creativity. Setting up a desk like they would have in class will help your child recognize that this is the space where they get their schoolwork done. Encourage reading by having a bookshelf stocked with fun, age-appropriate books and create a reading nook with a fun rug and reading chair. If you have young children, try to actively participate in reading with them. If your children are old enough for independent reading, designate 30 minutes to an hour a day of reading. Check out our Pinterest board for more great Homeschool Space Ideas!

  1. Incorporate exercise. Learning digitally can be very effective, but it can be difficult to make sure your child is moving and exercising throughout the day. Incorporating a fun family exercise in your day is a great way to help your children burn energy so they can be effective learners. Plus it gets the whole family involved! There are great options online for family-friendly workouts or you can incorporate a fun game or hobby like tennis or walking. Switch it up daily or every few days to make exercise fun and engaging!

No matter what your learning situation looks like this year, know that you are not alone. Every family is facing a new normal that we are each navigating the best we can. At Furniture of Dalton, we are rallying alongside you and would love to help you create a space in your home for digital learning, so that you have the best school year possible! We have a wide selection of desks, bookshelves, comfy reading chairs, and rugs to create a classroom in your home that helps your kids feel ready to learn and excel in the year ahead. Call us today to schedule an appointment or book an appointment online through Facebook. We look forward to helping you navigate these times!
