We all have heard the words “Farmhouse Style” over the last few years, especially when it comes to the Chip & Joanna Gaines era. The Farmhouse style actually became popular many many years ago in the early 18th century and has stayed relevant ever since. Farmhouse furniture and décor is known for being focused on rustic charm, simplicity, and practical comfort. There are so many branches of “farmhouse style” that include Traditional, Modern, French, Boho, Industrial, Coastal and so much more. It is important to know when achieving the look of Classic Farmhouse, the furniture will most likely be made of distressed wood for a rustic look, will have earthy colors such as beige, cream, and ivory. This furniture style is timeless and pairs well with so many other home décor styles that is why it branches off into so many other styles! We have attached an image of one of our favorite Farmhouse looks here at Furniture of Dalton! We have so many options that would be great for anybody that loves this style of furniture!
TRADITIONAL FURNITURE:
Traditional furniture is one of the most popular and well-known styles we carry. Traditional furniture started in the 1600s in Europe and has yet to go out of style. It is considered to be classic, formal, timeless, and effortless. Traditional design features an array of characteristics that a present in traditional furniture which includes calm, orderly, and consistent furniture that create the perfect cozy homey space. It incorporates rich dark wood tones, ball/claw foot legs and armrests, luxe texture/pattern upholstery, mixed metals, exotic rugs, and matching furniture sets. One of the big things with Traditional design is symmetry and this comes into play when keeping the furniture as matching sets, and as simple as matching candlesticks displayed on a mantle. If you want furniture that makes a statement while being classic then Traditional furniture is the right move for you! We included a picture of one of our favorite Traditional setups here at Furniture of Dalton, and we think you will love it too!
TRANSITIONAL FURNITURE:
Transitional furniture started in the 1700s and blends your traditional, and modern contemporary furniture elements creating a classic look without it being too trendy or modern. It does a great job of mixing new and old furniture styles and keeping things very minimal. It is known for being very neutral with colors of taupe, cream, white and olive shades with features of tone-on-tone palettes. The furniture is considered to be more “casual” which makes it feel more comfortable and welcoming, but also luxe by mixing in fabrics of leather, chenille, and suede. Wood shades for Transitional are lighter than what you would see in a Traditional home and are often mixed with glass and metal furniture. With furniture being minimal color and texture, this makes it a great selection for that couple that wants a masculine and feminine look all at the same time! Furniture of Dalton has great Transitional furniture pieces, and we included an image of one of our favorite room setups here!
MID-CENTURY MODERN FURNITURE:
Now we are starting to get into the fun & free spirit furniture styles we carry, and one of those is Mid-Century Modern! This furniture style era started in the late-1920s to mid-1960s, and remains to still be one of the most popular interior design trends to date. The furniture pieces are considered timeless because of the ability to buy pieces new and old and have them mix perfectly. When it comes to styling your Mid-Century Modern pieces, it is important to remember these steps: Choose bold artwork, select complimenting colors on all furniture and décor pieces, bring in texture on your rugs, mix different wood shapes and colors, incorporate patterned wallpaper, and choose an extravagant light fixture to really bring in and complete a room from top to bottom. BOHEMIAN FURNITURE:
Finishing us off strong we have our Bohemian style furniture and décor! Bohemian style became very popular in the 1800s and was viewed negative during that time, but by the 21st century it got a fresh new look and is now considered the design for people who like charming, eclectic and personality-ridden style. It is known for being the furniture style with “no rules” but it does have common elements always used when doing a Boho style space. The common elements are low-level furniture and seating, eclectic details, layering textures and colorful patterns, vintage items, plants and greenery. When it comes to making your space Boho it is important to know that this style cannot be achieved overnight. It takes lot of planning, collecting, and spacing these pieces to really create your vision so don’t stress that you don’t have all of these pieces overnight.
