Did you know that there is an actual house inside of Furniture of Dalton? The gorgeous 3,200 sq ft. home is a masterpiece to take in, complete with flooring, a full kitchen, furniture for all rooms, on-trend paint colors, and so much more! We recently updated the home with the latest design trends and furniture, creating a unique experience for guests of what our pieces will realistically look like in a home. The designers behind this work of art, Lilly Peeples and Bella Antonio, are excited to share some behind-the-scenes of the inspiration and design that went into creating this stunning home. Be warned, you may fall in love with this home and want to recreate it for yourself!
Paint colors: The overall color scheme of the home is light and bright to make the spaces feel larger and open and airy. This is done with Sherwin Williams Alpaca for the walls in the living room and foyer.
While a lighter color palette is super popular, having a few spaces to play around with color is also a major trend. We love the dark and moody feel in the half-bath which is the perfect place to play around with a bold design choice. Its a smaller room where you can add in unique design elements without overwhelming a space. We chose Sherwin Williams Urban Bronze for the walls and brightened the space with a gorgeous statement chandelier. The vanity is the perfect complement to the darker feel while elevating the space with gold accents.
Flooring: We know how important flooring is in the overall design of a space, so we utilized several different options throughout the home to showcase a variety of styles. All of the flooring used in the Dream Home is Shaw Industries and can be purchased in-store at Carpet’s of Dalton, which is connected to the Furniture of Dalton showroom. In the main living spaces, we used a gorgeous white oak hardwood flooring with wide planks and natural distressing which works perfectly for active families to camouflage minor scratches and scuffs.
In the master bedroom, we wanted to have fun with a light grey hardwood installed in a herringbone pattern to add visual appeal. Paired with the paint color Jade Dragon on the walls, the space is elevated while still inviting.
For the secondary bedrooms, we decided to go with a beautiful woven look carpet to make the rooms cozier. The rattan bed frame complements the natural texture of the carpet and stands out beautifully against the deep sea blue accent wall which is painted Sherwin William color Full Moon.
Kitchen: For the kitchen, we really wanted to capture the transitional style which combines the best of traditional and contemporary design elements. The light grey cabinets lend a cozy and inviting feel to the space, while the pop of dark grey on the island brings in a fun contrast. The countertops are a more traditional style with the grey veining that we also continued on the backsplash that compliments the two-toned cabinet colors and unifies the space. The statement lighting and high-end appliances bring a modern touch to the kitchen, marrying the styles together beautifully. The crisp white bar stools with black legs add a touch of timeless elegance and are perfect for a quick breakfast or afternoon snack.
Living Room:
The living room is framed by a gorgeous vaulted ceiling that instantly draws your eyes up to the show stopping leather chandelier. We wanted to continue the light and airy feel from the paint color and flooring and extend it with the gorgeous off-white Bernhardt Furniture sectional. It is comfortable and casual and perfect for a family to gather around. To add a pop of color, we anchored the space with a muted green Liberty rug that has an old-world pattern with a fun and whimsical feel. The coffee table and side tables add a geometric shape that keeps the room clean and simple. Other favorites in the room include the textured wallpaper above the fireplace, the running man console table, and gorgeous accent chairs. These elements add personality and make the space fun and unique!
Dining Room: One of our favorite rooms in the dream home is the dining room! We wanted to take a more casual approach and make it a space where the family could gather year-round as opposed to a formal room. The main inspiration was modern farmhouse style which you can see in several of the furniture pieces. One of the first pieces we selected is the gorgeous rustic bench, which we designed the rest of the room around. Fun, abstract walls paired with modern artwork, a traditional rug, and a hip light fixture tie the space together perfectly, making it a warm and welcoming spot for the family to meet up for meals.
Study:
With more parents and children working and learning at home, we wanted to make the study a creative and functional space. The workstation serves as the perfect spot to answer emails or help the kids with homework. Quaint, reading corners with cushion seating and fun jujus is great for kids and adults to cozy up and read a good book. Speaking of reading, we wanted to incorporate ample storage for books, school supplies, and more, so we added two gorgeous bookshelves that are practical and add character.
Teenager Room:
With a family in mind, one of the secondary bedrooms was designed as a teenager’s bedroom. The inspiration for the room came from a fun guitar artwork piece that had gold, black, and cream in it. We carried those colors throughout the room from the bedframe to the curtains, bedding, and accent pieces. One of our favorite accents is a cowhide poof that adds a natural element and unexpected texture. We also love the LVT accent wall behind the bed. Accent walls using LVT is a super hot trend and for good reason. Its a relatively inexpensive way to make a big statement, and we love how it turned out in this room!
