Grilling on The Big Green Egg
You have probably heard of the Big Green Egg, a ceramic, “kamado” style grill that is known for its impressive qualities, including precise temperature control, long lifetime, and most importantly, delicious results! You also may wonder if it lives up to the hype and reputation that it garners. While the verdict may depend on who you ask, at Furniture of Dalton, we believe the Big Green Egg’s impressive results speak for themselves. To help you make your own informed decision, here are a few of the reasons why we love the BGE and a few staff favorite recipes for you to try out this grilling season.
Excellent Heat Control - The Big Green Egg is known for its ability to maintain a consistent temperature for a long period. The ceramic composition allows the BGE to reach impressive temperatures safely and sustain them, making it perfect for cooking a variety of food- not just grilling meat. It can also be used to make pizza, desserts, and side dishes.
Long Lifetime - Unlike other charcoal grills and electric grills that last 5-10 years at best, the Big Green Egg can last a lifetime when well maintained. Again, thanks to the ceramic composition, the BGE is extremely durable and requires minimal maintenance. Simply cleaning out the charcoal dust and using a protective cover will ensure that your BGE is in good condition for many years to come.
Better Flavor - Simply put, the food you create on the BGE just tastes better than food cooked on a traditional charcoal or electric grill. Whether you are making burgers or ribs, the smoky flavor infuses the meat for a delicious end product. The ability to regulate the temperature also seals in moisture, ensuring mouth-watering results no matter what you are cooking.

From Rhett:
Beer Can Chicken
You can’t go wrong with a delicious beer can chicken on the Big Green Egg! This recipe is super simple to make with a delicious rub, 5 additional ingredients, and a cook time of around an hour and a half. Simply prep your chicken with the rub, pour half of the beer into a spray bottle along with the apple juice, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar. Then place the chicken on top of the beer can on a preheated 350 degree Big Green Egg. Spray the chicken with the mixture and check in occasionally while watching your favorite baseball game, continuing to spray every 15 minutes or so. Once the chicken is done after about 45 minutes to an hour, carefully remove the chicken from the beer can, let it rest for 10 minutes, then enjoy! Pro tip: get a BGE Looflighter to light your grill quickly and with ease! These make great gifts for the griller in your life.
From Ken:
Baby Back RibsRibs are a classic that is perfect to make on the Big Green Egg. Ken loves this recipe from The BBQ Buddha that has just 7 ingredients and makes for the perfect ribs every single time! Start by lighting your Big Green Egg and using 3-4 chucks of smoking wood which you can get along with all of your other eggcessories at Furniture of Dalton. Next, make sure you have high-quality baby back ribs. Prepare them by trimming away any excess fat and then add a little yellow mustard to help your rub stick. Place the ribs in the Big Green Egg for an hour then check them every hour, spraying them with a mixture of apple sauce, apple cider vinegar, hot sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. Bump the temperature up to 250 after 3 hours and check again after 4.5 hours. Once the meat passes the “bend test”, glaze with BBQ sauce and let the ribs sit in the grill for 10 minutes. Then enjoy the most delicious ribs you have ever had!
